Cecilia Vicuña at Turbine Hall

Tate Modern's annual Hyundai Commission, which invites artists to submit large-scale works for the institution's main entrance, has chosen artist and performer Cecilia Vicuña for the year 2022. Already present at the Venice Biennale curated by Cecilia Alemani, and nominated for a Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement after her success with documenta 14, Cecilia Vicuña's projects proliferate in the contemporary scene (soon to be shown at the Guggenheim in New York) and become a spokesperson for social justice, new looks at the figure of women, artists and their relationship with the world. Her voice, contemporary but capable of dialoguing with the most atavistic and pure elements, will resonate in the spaces of Turbine Hall, London, from October 2022 to April 2023.
